MPNnow.com - Messenger Post - May 13, 2009 @ 11:25 AM - Fairport, N.Y. — The office of David Koon announced that the New York State Assembly passed a package of bills focused on New Yorkers with disabilities.
A portion of the package requires that polling places offer blind and
visually impaired voters Braille versions of ballots upon request,
preserving their opportunity to vote independently. Another piece of
legislation requires the Department of Health to adopt regulations
making interpreters and assistive listening devices available for the
state’s deaf and hearing-impaired patients.
