Assemblyman Koon began his visit by presenting the entire Science Olympiad Team with a Certificate of Merit from the NY State Assembly & then individually recognized RACS’ two Gold Medalist, Kristoffer Ambubuyog & Abdullah Aden, with their own personal Certificates of Merit from the NY State Assembly. The students and staff present were both honored and humbled.

After the presentation of certificates, the students were the given the opportunity to ask Assemblyman Koon several questions, including inquiring about what it means to be an Assemblyman for New York State. RACS learned that the intricacies of being a part of the legislature for New York indeed a daunting task by any standards.

Assemblyman Koon also took the time to check out some of the projects used in the recent Olympiad competition as well as to address the students on their future goals. He was adamant in mentioning to them the importance of education and how their personally level of educational achievement will not only directly impact both their own lives but that of the lives of their entire community.
