National Crime Victims' Rights Week officially kicks off Sunday. It's a time to recognize, remember and advocate for those recovering from traumatic incidents here in the community.
Local Assemblyman David Koon says that those who work with victims do not always get a lot of recognition but they should. "You are out there on the front line, talking to people who have just gone through the most horrendous thing ever in their life and you are there to try and pick them up."
The local coalition for crime victims is having their annual walk on May 2.
